About Sarah I witnessed my first birth when I was seven years old. My mother gave birth to my little brother at home with a legendary midwife. I stood at the foot of the bed and witnessed my brother take his first breath and enter the world...I was hooked.
I become a mother at a very young age. I now have three amazing children, a husband, three dogs, and a cat. Parenting my own children has humbled and taught me a great deal. However I strongly believe each person has a profound inner wisdom to be the individual parent to their family, which looks very different for every parent and every family. I started this work when I took a childbirth education class with Julie Freitas in 2005 which sparked an interest in doing birth work. I became a birth doula in 2015 and a postpartum doula in 2013. In 2016 I took the ICEA teacher training to become a childbirth educator. I really enjoy teaching and helping families find their inner moxie as parents. After being a doula for over 13 years, and a midwife assistant for a little over 8 years, in the winter of 2023, I started my own journey to becoming a midwife. While in school I am continuing to support families in the Los Angeles and Ventura areas during the birth and the postpartum period. I strongly believe in each parent's ability to give birth, how they see fit, be it in a hospital, home birth, or birth center birth, be it unmediated, fully medicated, or somewhere in between. My focus as a doula is to provide love, care and support in honoring each individual family. |
