About Sarah I witnessed my first birth when I was seven years. My mother gave birth to my little brother at home with a legendary midwife. I stood at the foot of the bed and witnessed my brother take his first breath and enter the world, I was hooked. I strongly believe each person has a profound inner wisdom in to be the individual parent to their family, and that looks very different for every parent and every family. I become a mother at a very young age. I have three amazing children, a husband, three dogs, two cats and seven chickens. I took child birth education class with Julie Freitas in 2005 which sparked an interest in doing birth work. I become a birth doula in 2015 and a postpartum doula in 2013. In 2016 I took the ICEA teacher training to become a childbirth educator. I enjoy teaching and helping families find their inner moxie as parents. After being a doula for over 12 years, and a midwives assistant for a little over 6 years, in the winter of 2023, I started my own journey to becoming a midwife. While in school I am continuing to support families in the Los Angeles area during the birth and the postpartum period. I strongly believes in each parents ability to birth, how they see fit, be it in a hospital, home birth, or birth center birth. Be it unmediated, fully medicated or somewhere in between. Preparing one's self for birth as well as the postpartum period is something I strongly believe in and always encourages my clients to do. |
